Hello and namaste. My name is Cara and I'm a yoga student, teacher (E-RYT 200, YACEP), writer, mother and wife.
My story
I found yoga at a time when I had no self-love. I was under the thumb of an eating disorder and found myself in the studio as part of my efforts to disappear.
But as the practice of presence created space in my once-clogged mind, something magical happened. I found acceptance, love, compassion and healing. I started to feel connected to my body again. And then to other people. To the earth. To all things.
Though I’ve gained 50 pounds of weight I’ve never felt lighter. I released the self-hate and stored trauma that was weighing me down, and now I am discovering, more and more each day, how I want to live. Actually live. It’s wonderful.
Sometimes it’s messy. This journey isn’t perfect. Nobody’s is. But I’m so darned excited about it that I want to invite you to join me.
That’s why I started this blog, why I became a yoga teacher (learn about my yoga teaching philosophy here) and why I continue to share with students and readers — on and off the mat — tools, resources and fun things that might enhance your own journey.
Let's dive into this thing — the beautiful and the messy — and be present with it all.
The light in me sees and honors the light in you. Namaste.
