{DIY} Beach waves spray

The beach makes you feel at peace, and you leave with warm feelings, energy ... and amazing hair.

I live in Suburbia, Kansas. We don't have beaches. But I still want that hair.

After scavenging Pinterest, I combined some ideas to concoct a DIY beach waves spray that I thought would work best for my fine hair. It turned out pretty good!

DIY Beach Waves Spray

Ingredients:

  • 1 T. conditioner
  • 1 1/2 T. sea salt
  • 1 T. hair gel
  • 1 T. coconut oil
  • 3/4 C. warm water

Supplies:

  • Spray bottle
  • Funnel
  • Hair tie

To Make the Beach Waves Spray

You probably have most, if not all, of these supplies in your house already. So much cheaper than buying those $20+ beach waves sprays at the beauty store!

1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl or jar. The water must be warm, but not boiling, so that the other ingredients combine.

2. Pour into bottle using funnel. I used my Indigo Wild Zum Spray bottle. It had a little bit of fragrance left in it, which I kept to give my spray a nice fragrance.

To Style Hair

If you know me, you know I'm not a hair stylist. Which is why I like this style — it's l̶a̶z̶y̶ simple.

1. Before bed, scrunch into damp — but not drenched — hair. I usually shower in the early evening, so it's still damp but not soaking before bed.

2. Put hair in a high, loose bun. I sleep with my hair like this anyway, but I think it works for beach waves because the twisted hair in the bun helps encourage some waves.

3. Sleep. This is my favorite part.

4. In the morning, take hair out of bun and play with it until you're pleased. I sprayed a little more of the beach spray and scrunched it a bit. It doesn't need to be perfect — this is beach hair, it's supposed to be messy.
